Katherine Cannon

Katherine Cannon knew from a young age that she was called to be an educator, and when she was five years old, she began teaching younger siblings at home. She has been involved formally in education since 2000, and it is her calling and passion. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies. She earned her Master's Degree from the University of Denver in Curriculum & Instruction, along with a degree in Secondary Education and her teaching certificate in High School Social Studies in 2002. Since then, she has enjoyed teaching and serving as an administrator. 

Mrs. Cannon is Highly Qualified in Social Studies in the state of South Carolina, is licensed with ACSI as an All Levels Principal, and she holds endorsements in Gifted and Talented Instruction as well as Advanced Placement United States History. Additionally, she was the 2014-2015 Christian Academy Teacher of the Year, awarded the Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015-2016, and she was also named a SCISA Master Teacher for South Carolina Independent Schools Association. She has served in many roles throughout her career, including as a Mentor Teacher,a Curriculum & Instructional leader, as the Director of Admissions and Development, and as Head of School in her time at CA. In addition to teaching, she also has several years of experience in school administration.  As the current Christian Academy Head of School, she continues to be tremendously grateful to have the opportunity to share with others the blessing that Christian Academy has been to her and her family. She loves working with the wonderful Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and families to help grow the future of the school.Mrs. Cannon is also a lifelong learner and continues to attend workshops, conferences, and professional development offerings to continue to refine her understanding of Gods' Word and education. She loves to read the Bible and enjoys writing and praying every day. 

Katherine has lived in Myrtle Beach since 2005, has been married to her amazing husband since 2007, and loves being a parent to their two beautiful children, Amelia and Collin, who both attend Christian Academy.  The Cannons are actively involved in Seacoast Vineyard Church, love going to the beach, walking, biking, CA Saints athletic games and theater productions, and they also enjoy traveling to Colorado, California or other amazing locations to visit family each year. On rainy days, they read, play games, or just spend time with their dog and cat at home. She is committed to and believes fully in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, the refinement of the Holy Spirit, and she loves to share her journey with the Lord.

Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:8.
